Sebastião Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Alvarenga having to interfere. Amílcar Belém's late challenge caught a SC Madail's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amílcar Belém helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Madail booed when Milhafres AZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amílcar Belém didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amílcar Belém recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 25th minute of the match Diamantino Severo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Tavares skillfully saved the ball. Amílcar Belém fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Tavares having to interfere. When Gil Pires fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Madail's protests and gave Gil Pires a yellow card for diving instead. After 28 played minutes SC Madail got a freekick which was hit by Gil Pires. Moisés Lameiras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Tavares having to interfere. João Aleixo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ilídio Madeira kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. The supporters of SC Madail booed when Milhafres AZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcísio Malheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Aleixo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If João Aleixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Moisés Lameiras to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in SC Madail's zone, Amílcar Belém stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Tavares came out of the goal and Amílcar Belém tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebastião Torres in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jairo Alvarenga saved Milhafres AZ from getting behind. In the 59th minute, João Aleixo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jairo Alvarenga was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jairo Alvarenga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Aleixo in the 63rd minute of the match. After 67 played minutes SC Madail got a freekick which was hit by Gil Pires. Carlos Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amílcar Belém, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Carlos Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílcar Belém in the 75th minute of the match. Moisés Lameiras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Carlos Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to SC Madail getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Domingos Pires hit a great ball. If Amílcar Belém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the SC Madail defense, Moisés Lameiras kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Tavares. The SC Madail fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Tavares should have stopped the shot. Sebastião Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Milhafres AZ defense, João Aleixo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jairo Alvarenga. The Milhafres AZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jairo Alvarenga should have stopped the shot. The SC Madail supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Madail would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
