Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Viriato Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginaldo Noronha, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nuno Santos in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amílcar Cesário saved Furnas FC from getting behind. After 9 minutes of play, Areoza's Miguel Guarda made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amílcar Cesário was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Plácido Vargas came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Furnas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Plácido Vargas couldn't finish the play. Viriato Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reginaldo Noronha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Areoza's Viriato Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginaldo Noronha in the 34th minute of play. Plácido Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Viriato Garcia having to interfere. In the 37th match minute, Areoza was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Leiria to maneuver through the defense. After 39 played minutes Reginaldo Noronha rounded Areoza's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. After a rather tough play, Areoza's Nuno Santos got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute, Miguel Guarda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

If Nuno Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Furnas FC booed when Areoza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adelino Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Miguel Guarda came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Areoza fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Guarda couldn't finish the play. Nuno Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th minute Reginaldo Noronha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Viriato Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Miguel Guarda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 84thth minute of the game Reginaldo Noronha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Areoza's Viriato Garcia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Amílcar Cesário showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Santos in the 89th minute of the match. Nuno Santos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amílcar Cesário read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Reginaldo Noronha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Viriato Garcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Areoza supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Areoza would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
