In the 3rd match minute, SC Sopo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bento Pinheiro to maneuver through the defense. João Anjos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Torres having to interfere. After 14 played minutes SL Benfica got a freekick which was hit by João Palmeira. After recieving a nice pass, SC Sopo's Sandro Macedo tried to score from far away in the 15th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 19th match minute, SL Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. SC Sopo's Sandro Macedo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 21st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SL Benfica. If João Anjos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the last second Juvenal Torres throw himself and got hold of the ball when Mário Sá in the 33rdth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 37th minute, Jorge Balsemão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cláudio Travassos took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gil Ferro. Gil Ferro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. SC Sopo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sandro Macedo in the 50th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorge Balsemão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Juvenal Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mário Sá in the 53rd minute of play. After 55 minutes SL Benfica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sandro Macedo who took care of the corner kick. The corner led SC Sopo's Sandro Macedo to fire away a dangerous shot which Juvenal Torres despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If João Anjos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Anjos scored 2-1 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juvenal Torres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 64th minute, Eduardo Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jorge Balsemão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Mário Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, SL Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when João Anjos came free, but Juvenal Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juvenal Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Sá, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. João Palmeira kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 99th minute of the match Sandro Macedo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juvenal Torres skillfully saved the ball. SC Sopo's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
