The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Ferrão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Resende in the 5th minute of the match. Israel Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Garcia having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SC Salgueiro's Gregório Prestes got a free kick in the 14th minute. With a little luck, SC Fundao's Diogo Garcia got control of the ball when Israel Leme tried to sneak it across the goal line. Diogo Garcia made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Israel Leme sent off a good shot on target. Carlos Ferrão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Amaro in the 22nd minute of play. In the 22nd minute, João Amaro made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Ferrão. SC Salgueiro's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. SC Fundao's attack was well implemented in the 26th minute, but when João Amaro was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. After 32 played minutes SC Fundao got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Delgado. 38 minutes into the game, Manuel Resende cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Carlos Ferrão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. João Amaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. SC Salgueiro's Israel Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The audience was convinced that Israel Leme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Diogo Garcia was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Manuel Resende who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Carlos Ferrão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Carlos Ferrão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Fundao. A collision led to SC Salgueiro getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Virgílio Simões hit a great ball. If Manuel Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Amaro in the 88th minute of play forced SC Salgueiro's goalkeeper Carlos Ferrão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
