The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ivan Boaventura during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Passos FC's Estevão Ramos managed to work through SeNsUaIs FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Ivan Boaventura was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After recieving a nice pass, Passos FC's Alcides Taborda tried to score from far away in the 46th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Cassiano Madruga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dário Dantas in the 54th minute of play. In the 64th match minute, SeNsUaIs FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Igrejas to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th minute, Dário Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Edgar Fiúza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonel Pinto missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 73 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Rui Bento right hand side. After a rather tough play, SeNsUaIs FC's Jaime Igrejas got a free kick in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind SeNsUaIs FC's goalkeeper Cassiano Madruga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
