When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Xavier Barbosa sped through Lisboa e Águias's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of João Sanches. João Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavier Barbosa in the 18th minute of the match. João Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cândido Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After 25 minutes, Hélder Baptista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Montarroio and the Lisboa e Águias players grew even worse after the yellow card. Xavier Barbosa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Sanches having to make a save. After the first half SC Montarroio were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The supporters of Lisboa e Águias booed when SC Montarroio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Jesus didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Jacinto Bernardes sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and SC Montarroio's Jorge Andrade didn't even have to move. Xavier Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jaime Malafaia struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Jorge Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lisboa e Águias. A collision led to SC Montarroio getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. André Resende hit a great ball. Xavier Barbosa struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. João Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cândido Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st play minute Tomás Jesus came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised João Sanches. 0-3. 87 minutes into the match, SC Montarroio's Alexandre Castro broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jaime Malafaia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Jorge Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Malafaia in the 93rd minute of the match. If Jaime Malafaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Malafaia in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Andrade saved SC Montarroio from getting behind. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Montarroio walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
