But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adelino Alves couldn't finish the play. Bernardo Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Póvoas having to interfere. José Sá showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastião Falcão, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Avintes's zone, Bernardo Neto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Noel Póvoas came out of the goal and Bernardo Neto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebastião Falcão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Sá having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Josué Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Samuel Barata fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Avintes's protests and gave Samuel Barata a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Avintes's Samuel Barata got a free kick in the 47th minute. 49 minutes into the game, Bernardo Neto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Noel Póvoas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half SC Roda were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

SC Roda's José Sá played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastião Falcão in the 60th minute of play. José Sá took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastião Falcão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardo Neto was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 61st minute. SC Roda's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. FC Avintes's players were relieved. Noel Póvoas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adelino Alves in the 83rd minute of the match. Josué Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. José Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 98 minutes into the match, SC Roda's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Falcão came free, but José Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Roda walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
