In the 7th minute, Mariano Brás made a precise shot to the right of Rui Vieira. Benfica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. SC Brunhoso's Rafael Pinheiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save SC Brunhoso from getting a goal against them. 15 minutes into the match, SC Brunhoso's goal looked a bit too open when José Jesus came free, but Rafael Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Mariano Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Brunhoso were furious when Joaquim Bessa was red carded, 23 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Brunhoso fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! Rafael Pinheiro went to the wrong direction when Hélder Lisboa was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Emanuel Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rui Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Carvalho in the 38th minute of the match. If José Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, SC Brunhoso's Rafael Pinheiro got control of the ball when Carlos Pinheiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 44th match minute, Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Alves to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Jesus made a kick off. José Jesus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Paulo Monteiro fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Brunhoso's protests and gave Paulo Monteiro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Brunhoso getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Paulo Monteiro hit a great ball. In the 60th minute of the match Sandro Fernandes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafael Pinheiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rafael Pinheiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Jesus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Óscar Vaz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Rafael Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If António Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Óscar Vaz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Óscar Vaz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Benfica's José Jesus got a free kick in the 80th minute. Carlos Pinheiro struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Rafael Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benfica. José Jesus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Rafael Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adelino Gomes during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th minute, Adelino Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The SC Brunhoso players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
