After having played for 6 minutes, Durval Vilaça managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espadanedo F. In the 16th match minute, SC Gaieiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Mendes to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 17 minutes, Leonardo Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espadanedo F. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonardo Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gentil Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Leiria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Branco in the 24th minute of play forced Espadanedo F. C.'s goalkeeper Gentil Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Durval Vilaça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Correia having to interfere. António Leiria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gentil Travassos having to interfere. Gentil Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Leiria in the 38th minute of play. SC Gaieiras's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Durval Vilaça scored to the left of an out of position Eduardo Correia, making the score, 1-0. When Hermenegildo Resende fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Espadanedo F. C.'s protests and gave Hermenegildo Resende a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Espadanedo F. C. getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Hermenegildo Resende hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Durval Vilaça to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, SC Gaieiras's goal looked a bit too open when Durval Vilaça came free, but Eduardo Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval Vilaça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Correia having to interfere. Durval Vilaça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, SC Gaieiras's Afonso Correia got a free kick in the 70th minute. Eduardo Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durval Vilaça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ricardo Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Ricardo Branco kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gentil Travassos. That made the score 1-1 in the 77 minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves António Leiria could shoot a difficult shot in the 83rd minute, which Gentil Travassos however easily saved by the left post. If Ricardo Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduardo Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Araújo in the 89th minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
