The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Martelos FC's Severino Roriz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flávio Sequeira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 7th minute, Renato Azenha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gabriel Quinaz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 8th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 11 minutes into the match, Montinho FC's goalkeeper Flávio Sequeira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Danilo Quirino. The crowd rose to their feet as Martelos FC's Severino Roriz slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Flávio Sequeira. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. After 15 minutes, Martinho Mendes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Martelos FC and the Montinho FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th minute, Martinho Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Honorato Ramires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Águas, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Paulino Águas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 25 minutes, Paulino Águas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montinho FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulino Águas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Flávio Sequeira successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Flávio Sequeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Roriz in the 33rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fábio Barros in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Honorato Ramires saved Martelos FC from getting behind. Martelos FC's Honorato Ramires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio Barros in the 44th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Fábio Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Montinho FC's Paulino Águas got a free kick in the 57th minute. Fábio Barros struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Honorato Ramires didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montinho FC. Honorato Ramires stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulino Águas's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Honorato Ramires made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Cordeiro in the 68th minute of play. Fábio Barros in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Honorato Ramires, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 85th match minute, Martelos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aquilino Vigário to maneuver through the defense. In the 89th minute, Fábio Barros fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Montinho FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
