The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Daniel Assunção's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vítor Machado was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. When Daniel Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Ervilhais FC fans jumped to their feet. Olívio Estrada kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in SC Teixelo's zone, Daniel Assunção stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vítor Machado came out of the goal and Daniel Assunção tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vítor Machado having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SC Teixelo's Ricardo Eiró got a free kick in the 19th minute. When Daniel Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Ervilhais FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Lopes couldn't finish the play. After 26 played minutes SC Teixelo got a freekick which was hit by Ivo Garcia. After having played for 37 minutes, Daniel Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ervilhais FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Assunção was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Daniel Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastião Brás in the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
