Fábio Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Leomil's Fábio Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Luz in the 8th minute of play. Armando Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th match minute, SC Leomil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bento Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Canibais's Armando Luz got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Laércio Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Mário Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Mendes came out of the goal and Laércio Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of SC Leomil booed when Canibais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Leomil's Rogério Gueifão couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 35th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Canibais. After 37 minutes, António Bentes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canibais and the SC Leomil players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Fonseca in the 41st minute of play forced SC Leomil's goalkeeper Fábio Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fábio Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio Fonseca in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mário Alves made a kick off. Viriato Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But to his dismay, Viriato Baptista quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Laércio Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Canibais's Idalécio Carrasqueira got a free kick in the 76th minute. Laércio Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fábio Mendes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Baptista in the 83rd minute of play forced Canibais's goalkeeper Leal Granja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Canibais defense, Mário Alves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leal Granja. The Canibais fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leal Granja should have stopped the shot. António Bentes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fábio Mendes having to interfere. Laércio Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Fábio Mendes made a huge save. If Laércio Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
