Anadia's Catarino Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Telmo Neves in the 19th minute of play. Rubim Castelo Branco might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Catarino Esteves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rubim Castelo Branco ran back to his position shaking his head. Lúcio Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lúcio Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Telmo Neves got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Monforte's zone, André Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dimas Branco came out of the goal and André Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Anadia booed when Monforte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dimas Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Monforte players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Anadia were winning 0-1.

54 minutes into the match, Anadia's Lúcio Mendes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dimas Branco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rubim Castelo Branco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hélder Luz during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 73rd match minute, Anadia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Luz to maneuver through the defense. Anadia's Catarino Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubim Castelo Branco in the 74th minute of play. After 75 minutes, Paulo Dantas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Anadia and the Monforte players grew even worse after the yellow card. Monforte's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Manuel Campos hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Amadeu Bragança, 90 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Anadia's Delfim Coelho got a free kick in the 91st minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
