Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Alexandre Setúbal made the kick off and thus started the match. The supporters of SC Troviscais booed when SLBenfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. 7 minutes into the game, António Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SLBenfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Troviscais the free kick. Cássio Vilas Boas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Setúbal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luís Pimenta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Marco Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filipe Machado in the 27th minute of play forced SLBenfica's goalkeeper Cássio Vilas Boas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th match minute, SLBenfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Borges to maneuver through the defense. Cássio Vilas Boas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 32 played minutes SLBenfica got a freekick which was hit by Laurentino Saldanha. After a rather tough play, SC Troviscais's Joel Mendes got a free kick in the 41st minute. SLBenfica's Marco Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Marco Rocha made the kick off in the second half. António Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Cássio Vilas Boas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marco Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 66 minutes into the match, Ricardo Rodrigues notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of SLBenfica's Cássio Vilas Boas. Cássio Vilas Boas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Filipe Machado hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. 69 minutes into the match, SLBenfica's Marco Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that António Faria narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Filipe Machado's late challenge caught a SLBenfica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filipe Machado helped the player get up and apologised. After 86 played minutes SC Troviscais got a freekick which was hit by Filipe Machado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Rocha in the 89th minute of play forced SC Troviscais's goalkeeper António Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Faria having to interfere. When Luís Pimenta came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the SLBenfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Pimenta couldn't finish the play. SLBenfica's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
