When Eurico Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Alcafache fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eurico Aguiar couldn't finish the play. Rui Viegas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Eurico Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. Reinaldo Seabra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Magalhães went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Rui Viegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Aguiar in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Balugaes's zone, Mauro Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Viegas came out of the goal and Mauro Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rubim Guarda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Álvaro Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mauro Leal struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Rui Viegas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alcafache. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mauro Leal made a kick off. In the 54th minute Mauro Leal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Viegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Balugaes's zone, Mauro Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Viegas came out of the goal and Mauro Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mauro Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Mauro Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Viegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Leal in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Eurico Aguiar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eurico Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Viegas having to interfere. If Mauro Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Balugaes's Rui Viegas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Balugaes from getting a goal against them. Alcafache's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
