Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) FC Pointe Noire's Viriato Santarém started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Santarém in the 7th minute of play forced Portuguesa's goalkeeper Afonso Domingos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonçalo Prestes went to the cornerflag to take it. Sérgio Severo was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. If Belchior Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Paulo Lima came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the FC Pointe Noire fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Lima couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Portuguesa's Alípio Patrício got a free kick in the 60th minute. The audience was convinced that Viriato Santarém's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Afonso Domingos was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Paulo Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Portuguesa's Hilário Varanda got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Belchior Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Basílio Menezes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 78 played minutes Portuguesa got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo Prestes. Hilário Varanda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Menezes having to interfere. The Portuguesa supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching FC Pointe Noire's performance. The match ended with a win for FC Pointe Noire.
