The ball had pretty good speed, but João Dias firmly grabbed it by the left post. 19 minutes into the game, FC Poarto's António Araújo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Dias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. A collision led to SC Muxagata getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Armando Carvalho hit a great ball. If Afonso Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Cunha hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, SC Muxagata's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Brás came free, but João Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 34 minutes, Filipe Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Poarto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filipe Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 37 minutes of play, FC Poarto's Filipe Azevedo made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Dias was left in no man's land by his defense there! Afonso Pacheco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. João Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and António Araújo made a kick off. Afonso Pacheco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the match, FC Poarto's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Carvalho came free, but Vítor Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, António Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Poarto's supporters rose to their feet, but António Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Poarto's Vítor Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Matias in the 65th minute of play. Adelino Soares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for João Dias. SC Muxagata's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. SC Muxagata's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
