The tension between the Arsenal and the SC Oriola players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of SC Oriola booed when Arsenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucílio Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arsenal's Paulo Lobato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Dantas in the 29th minute of play. When Bernardo Nogueira came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the SC Oriola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardo Nogueira couldn't finish the play. In the 35th minute, SC Oriola's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Marcelo Viana fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Daniel Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute.
