The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lúcio Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heitor Paião, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. A collision led to SC Cilhade getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Alexandre Esteves hit a great ball. João Gomes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Afonso Malheiro came out and tried to block the shot, but João Gomes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 41st minute. Lúcio Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heitor Paião in the 45th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heitor Paião to strike the kick off in the second half. Afonso Malheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heitor Pinto in the 57th minute of play. If João Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Gois hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Manuel Morais fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Malheiro having to interfere. With his leg Lúcio Almeida managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Os goleadores's Higino Mendonça fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. SC Cilhade's Manuel Morais got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Heitor Paião managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee ignored SC Cilhade's protests and gave Carlos Anjos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th minute, Carlos Anjos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Heitor Paião in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lúcio Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. During the 83rd minute of the match Carlos Anjos completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Carlos Anjos a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Carlos Anjos kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Higino Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Os goleadores's supporters rose to their feet, but Higino Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. SC Cilhade's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
