An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Lauaxeta in the 12th minute of play forced SC Cruz's goalkeeper Raul Albuquerque to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Santos F.C's goal looked a bit too open when David Raposo came free, but Marco Anjos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Cruz's goalkeeper Raul Albuquerque, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Santos F.C's Marco Anjos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Santos F.C from getting a goal against them. Vladimiro Zambujal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Anjos having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Joaquim Morais notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of SC Cruz's Raul Albuquerque. Raul Albuquerque was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Alejo Lauaxeta put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Raul Albuquerque. Marco Anjos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ricardo Azevedo in the 90th minute. Raul Albuquerque didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nuno Lisboa went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Santos F.C fully deserved thier win.
