The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reinaldo Calçada during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th minute, Gavião FC got a penalty, and Higino Malheiro placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. After 10 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. In the 15th match minute, Gavião FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. Heitor Vides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Basílio Paião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roberto Ramos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Valentim Gusmão made a huge save. The supporters of Recreativo Ninho do Açor booed when Gavião FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basílio Paião came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Recreativo Ninho do Açor's Heitor Vides. But to his dismay, Heitor Vides quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After 46 played minutes Gavião FC got a freekick which was hit by Alexandrino Porto. Silvano Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Roberto Ramos's late challenge caught a Recreativo Ninho do Açor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roberto Ramos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Roberto Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the game, Recreativo Ninho do Açor's Heitor Vides nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Basílio Paião made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Fernando Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valentim Gusmão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Ramos in the 64th minute of the match. Heitor Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basílio Paião was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Silvano Lima showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 75 minute of play. Valentim Gusmão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Fernandes in the 79th minute of the match. 81 minutes in the game, Silvano Lima fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Basílio Paião having to interfere. When Frederico Cavaco fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gavião FC's protests and gave Frederico Cavaco a yellow card for diving instead. 2-5 became the score in the 87th minute when Roberto Ramos elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Frederico Cavaco was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 93 minutes had been played. A collision led to Gavião FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Frederico Cavaco hit a great ball. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gavião FC's goalkeeper Basílio Paião, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
