When the match had been going on for 9 minutes, Ribalonga FC's Horácio Cardoso got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Mário Azevedo. Óscar Assunção fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valério Ribas having to interfere. The goalkeeper, Mário Azevedo, was totally fooled by Ribalonga FC's Horácio Cardoso, who 20 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Óscar Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot. Garruchas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Óscar Assunção was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valério Ribas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 28th minute, Marcelo Palmeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Lourenço Baião managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valério Ribas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Óscar Assunção, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garruchas FC's Mário Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Garruchas FC from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
