Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) After having played for 4 minutes, Sabino Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmaz FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabino Assunção was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Fabiano Vigário managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabiano Vigário was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomé Valverde breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benfica's Alfredo Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 10th match minute, Palmaz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lúcio Vasconcelos to maneuver through the defense. In the 15thth minute of the game Sabino Assunção who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Benfica's Jorge Magalhães was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Benfica's goalkeeper Jorge Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rúben Regalado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Jorge Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Magalhães came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Palmaz FC's Rúben Regalado. But to his dismay, Rúben Regalado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 23 minutes into the match, Palmaz FC's Sabino Assunção sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Magalhães narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Benfica getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Jorge Freire hit a great ball. Tomé Valverde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Vigário in the 27th minute of the match. If Sabino Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sabino Assunção fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Magalhães having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rúben Regalado in the 46th minute of play forced Benfica's goalkeeper Jorge Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sabino Assunção to strike the kick off in the second half. Fabiano Vigário received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Tomé Valverde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 60 played minutes Palmaz FC got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Vasconcelos. Sabino Assunção struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Jorge Magalhães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmaz FC. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmaz FC's goalkeeper Tomé Valverde, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alfredo Carvalho struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Tomé Valverde didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benfica. After a rather tough play, Benfica's Normando Portugal got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 80th match minute, Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Palmaz FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Benfica:s goal. Xavier Sobral walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The Palmaz FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
