Virgílio Águas kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Severino Bandeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. André Vargas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Corticada FC's Paulo Telinhos got a free kick in the 17th minute. João Ferrão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Vilanova's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. In the 23rd minute, Adalberto Fidalgo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Corticada FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Adalberto Fidalgo struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. André Vargas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Corticada FC. In the 38th minute, Sálvio Fragoso fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of João Ferrão, passed just outside the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Severino Bandeira during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Severino Bandeira hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rafael Vilanova to make the kick off. Virgílio Águas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafael Vilanova scored 1-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of João Ferrão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseu Rodrigues during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 58th minute, Eliseu Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Ferrão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgílio Águas, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Adalberto Fidalgo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, André Vargas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 67 minutes, Severino Bandeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corticada FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Severino Bandeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Benfica's goalkeeper André Vargas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adalberto Fidalgo. 71 minutes into the match, Rafael Vilanova had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Ferrão. Corticada FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafael Vilanova was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Severino Bandeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. André Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benfica's Rafael Vilanova got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benfica's Virgílio Águas managed to work through Corticada FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Virgílio Águas dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. André Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Bandeira in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Águas in the 85th minute of play forced Corticada FC's goalkeeper João Ferrão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Virgílio Águas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Ferrão having to interfere. A collision led to Corticada FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Albertino Mafra hit a great ball. Benfica's Eliseu Rodrigues got his second yellow card of the match in the 94th minute. The referee ordered Eliseu Rodrigues off the ground. Eliseu Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Severino Bandeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Vargas having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
