Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Afonso lacerda took the kick off in the first half of the match. Germano Prestes's late challenge caught a Varela FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Germano Prestes helped the player get up and apologised. Germano Prestes hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Afonso Reis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Catarino Mourinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th match minute, SC Goias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Gago to maneuver through the defense. Varela FC's Hugo Delgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Plácido Saraiva in the 12th minute of play. Roberto Gago kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. José Vaz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hugo Delgado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Plácido Saraiva went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Catarino Mourinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Catarino Mourinho made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Afonso Reis sent off a good shot on target. The Varela FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Goias were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Vaz to strike the kick off in the second half. The attack was good, but when José Vaz in the 54th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Afonso Reis scored 1-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Catarino Mourinho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Afonso Reis in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Catarino Mourinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Domingos Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 64 minutes into the match, SC Goias's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Reis came free, but Catarino Mourinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Varela FC's Afonso Reis got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Catarino Mourinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afonso Reis's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Catarino Mourinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Plácido Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Varela FC's José Vaz got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Catarino Mourinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Varela FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
