Cristiano Paiva struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Ilídio Valente didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIO AVE F.C. Vítor Henriques blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ilídio Valente having to make a save. Bento Faro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Prates in the 11th minute of the match. RIO AVE F.C's Bento Faro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Gaspar in the 12th minute of play. Bento Faro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diogo Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After 17 played minutes RIO AVE F.C got a freekick which was hit by Vasco Pereira. In the 20th minute Cristiano Paiva suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. RIO AVE F.C's Humberto Gueifão was substituted for Cristiano Paiva. The supporters of RIO AVE F.C booed when SC Peral was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armindo Cesário didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vítor Henriques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Peral's zone, Humberto Gueifão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ilídio Valente came out of the goal and Humberto Gueifão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ilídio Valente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Henriques, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, RIO AVE F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Diogo Vale came free, but Bento Faro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, SC Peral's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Gueifão came free, but Ilídio Valente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Bento Faro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jorge Gaspar made a kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Peral's goalkeeper Ilídio Valente, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Nuno Campos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Gaspar in the 62nd minute of play forced RIO AVE F.C's goalkeeper Bento Faro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the game, Pascoal Marinho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bento Faro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vasco Pereira scored 1-1 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ilídio Valente, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. RIO AVE F.C's Bento Faro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save RIO AVE F.C from getting a goal against them. The referee felt a red card was in order, 78 minutes into the game, when Vasco Pereira put in a rough tackle. A collision led to RIO AVE F.C getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Vasco Pereira hit a great ball. Roberto Prates charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roberto Prates the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 80th minute, Roberto Prates hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Gueifão in the 81st minute of play forced SC Peral's goalkeeper Ilídio Valente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Peral's Ilídio Valente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Gueifão in the 83rd minute of play. Humberto Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ilídio Valente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Humberto Gueifão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ilídio Valente read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Humberto Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Ilídio Valente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. RIO AVE F.C were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing SC Peral to leave the ground with a draw.
