José Mota started the match with the kick off. Valdemar Paiva took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 11th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vladimiro Perdigão. Azinheiro's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Azinheiro's Vladimiro Perdigão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Gouveia in the 15th minute of play. When Germano Cerqueira fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Benfica do Dino's protests and gave Germano Cerqueira a yellow card for diving instead. Germano Cerqueira hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Nuno Gouveia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Vladimiro Perdigão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vladimiro Perdigão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nuno Gouveia's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. With an all-out effort, Azinheiro's Dércio Calheiros threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Mota, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 32 minutes into the game, André França was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Benfica do Dino's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Azinheiro the free kick. After 32 played minutes Benfica do Dino got a freekick which was hit by André França. After a rather tough play, Benfica do Dino's Germano Cerqueira got a free kick in the 34th minute. Tomás Pereira didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-0 via right post in the game's 36th minute. Azinheiro's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! If Nuno Gouveia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute of the match Benfica do Dino got a corner. Azinheiro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nivaldo Durães ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Benfica do Dino's corner Nivaldo Durães fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Vladimiro Perdigão quite easily take care of the ball. Aparício Ornelas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Mota in the 62nd minute of play forced Benfica do Dino's goalkeeper Dércio Calheiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dércio Calheiros having to interfere. Azinheiro were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Benfica do Dino's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alexandrino Alvarenga took the corner. Benfica do Dino were furious when Nivaldo Durães was red carded, 92 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 92nd minute, one of Benfica do Dino:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Benfica do Dino. Alexandrino Alvarenga walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After 97 played minutes Benfica do Dino got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Caetano.
