The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 38 minutes into the match, Caetano Madureira notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of SC Espinho's Paulino Leite. Paulino Leite was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Sílvio Taborda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. After 47 played minutes, SC Espinho's Leal Dias shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nuno Sarmento came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Espinho reached it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Caetano Madureira to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caetano Madureira in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulino Leite saved SC Espinho from getting behind. Monte da Lua's Nuno Sarmento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Monte da Lua from getting a goal against them. Joel Valadão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Nuno Sarmento made a huge save. Nuno Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Portela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
