Diamantino Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romão Franco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diamantino Melo in the 7th minute of the match. After having played for 10 minutes, Viriato Setúbal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Coucao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Viriato Setúbal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Romão Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Setúbal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Estrela's goal looked a bit too open when Diamantino Melo came free, but Romão Franco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute, Diamantino Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diamantino Melo struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Romão Franco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Coucao. 28 minutes into the match, Estrela's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Setúbal came free, but Romão Franco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th match minute, Estrela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gastão Leiria to maneuver through the defense. Joel Figueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Albertino Pedroso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Estrela's Elias Nóbrega sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Albertino Pedroso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 45 played minutes SC Coucao got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Santarém. The corner ended in Amável Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SC Coucao's Albertino Pedroso did a great save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

João Valente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romão Franco having to interfere. Amável Montenegro's late challenge caught a SC Coucao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amável Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Estrela's Amável Montenegro got a free kick in the 54th minute. SC Coucao's Diamantino Melo suffered a concussion in the 58th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Estrela! The goalkeeper, Romão Franco, was totally fooled by SC Coucao's Fernando Monteiro, who 61 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Viriato Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romão Franco having to interfere. Nuno Santarém blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Romão Franco having to make a save. SC Coucao's Viriato Setúbal got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuno Santarém hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. SC Coucao's Albertino Pedroso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Figueira in the 78th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, SC Coucao's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Figueira came free, but Albertino Pedroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Viriato Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romão Franco having to interfere. The supporters of SC Coucao booed when Estrela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Gueifão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elias Nóbrega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Pedroso having to interfere.
