The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Hélio Noronha fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Boza's protests and gave Hélio Noronha a yellow card for diving instead. After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SC Boza! Cássio Mascarenhas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Gastão Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Hermínio Sampaio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 22nd minute by Cássio Mascarenhas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Gastão Pinto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cássio Mascarenhas in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Boza's zone, Cássio Mascarenhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gastão Pinto came out of the goal and Cássio Mascarenhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Avinjes's Hermínio Sampaio got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cássio Mascarenhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Pinto having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Evandro Ribeiro was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hermínio Sampaio in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gastão Pinto saved SC Boza from getting behind. Hermínio Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Gastão Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Quintela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evandro Ribeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Cássio Mascarenhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Pinto having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cássio Mascarenhas in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gastão Pinto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gastão Pinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermínio Sampaio in the 61st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Evandro Ribeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Quintela was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. A hard shot 65 in the game by Dimas Meireles from a close distance when the talented João Quintela managed to make a qualified save. Avinjes's players were relieved. After 67 minutes, Sebastião Braga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Boza and the Avinjes players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dimas Meireless short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got João Quintela to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Dimas Meireles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Evandro Ribeiro took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for João Quintela to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Hermínio Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avinjes's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermínio Sampaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gastão Pinto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Avinjes fully deserved thier win.
