Carlos Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Anselmo Mourão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute Eduardo Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Mourão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Correia got free with Anselmo Mourão in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute, Alvarim's Carlos Correia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Anselmo Mourão. Anselmo Mourão yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When Alvarim's Eduardo Castro in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vitória de Setúbal's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eduardo Castro in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anselmo Mourão saved Vitória de Setúbal from getting behind. Eduardo Castro struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Anselmo Mourão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alvarim. Alvarim's Eduardo Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Vitória de Setúbal's Anselmo Mourão got control of the ball when Carlos Correia tried to sneak it across the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Vitória de Setúbal's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Castro came free, but Anselmo Mourão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 39 played minutes Alvarim got a freekick which was hit by José Cardoso. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cândido Caldas to make the kick off. Anselmo Mourão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Correia in the 54th minute of play. In the 59thth minute of the game Eduardo Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vitória de Setúbal's Anselmo Mourão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vitória de Setúbal's Anselmo Mourão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Correia in the 60th minute of play. Alvarim's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Duarte Antunes in the 67th minute. The corner led to Alvarim's Pedro Guerreiro getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Carlos Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Mourão having to interfere. A collision led to Vitória de Setúbal getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Cândido Caldas hit a great ball. Israel Viana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
