Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Rubim Varanda made the kick off which started today's match. Amílcar Ferreira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Adolfo Aguiar. Espargal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Adolfo Aguiar acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 9th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Álvaro Baptista. After 11 played minutes, Cuvinho's Álvaro Baptista shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Adolfo Aguiar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cuvinho reached it. Fernando Leite struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Jorge Fernandes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Espargal. A collision led to Cuvinho getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. António Marques hit a great ball. Fernando Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Espargal:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cuvinho:s goal. The supporters of Espargal booed when Cuvinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cuvinho's Jorge Fernandes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Leite in the 36th minute of play. After 42 played minutes Cuvinho got a freekick which was hit by António Marques. Jorge Fernandes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubim Varanda in the 47th minute of play.
The wind increased when Henrique Marques made the kick off in the second half. Fernando Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Fernandes having to interfere. Sandro Gueifão's late challenge caught a Cuvinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sandro Gueifão helped the player get up and apologised. Sandro Gueifão hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute, Henrique Marques got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cuvinho's zone, Rubim Varanda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Fernandes came out of the goal and Rubim Varanda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Cuvinho's Jorge Fernandes got control of the ball when Fernando Leite tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Cuvinho's Henrique Marques in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Many of Espargal's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Espargal may have spent more time on the ball, but Cuvinho were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
