The audience thought a goal was coming when Xavier Amaral got free with Cândido Carvalho in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Abelardo Pirro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Gomes having to interfere. The tension between the SL Benfica and the SC Alcorouchel players grew even worse after the yellow card.
