Laércio Baía sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 4 minutes into the match, Virais's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Baía came free, but Lucas Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laércio Baía recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reginaldo Viegas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Moniz in the 14th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Miguel Moniz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Virais's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Moniz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reginaldo Viegas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Reginaldo Viegas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Miranda in the 21st minute of the match. If Laércio Baía had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to SC Vegia getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Heitor Vilaverde hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the match, SC Vegia's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Miranda came free, but Reginaldo Viegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Baía in the 34th minute of play forced Virais's goalkeeper Lucas Sá to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Manuel Miranda ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reginaldo Viegas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After a rather tough play, SC Vegia's Palmiro Toscano got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute of the match Emílio Paiva sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reginaldo Viegas skillfully saved the ball. When Palmiro Toscano fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Vegia's protests and gave Palmiro Toscano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Virais booed when SC Vegia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Palmiro Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Lucas Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio Baía in the 53rd minute of play. Laércio Baía sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 56 minutes into the game, Heitor Vilaverde was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Vegia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Virais the free kick. After 56 played minutes SC Vegia got a freekick which was hit by Heitor Vilaverde. Micael Calheiros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lucas Sá having to make a save. Carlos Castro's late challenge caught a SC Vegia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Castro helped the player get up and apologised. Carlos Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Laércio Baía received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Lucas Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lucas Sá showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Micael Calheiros in the 67th minute of the match. After 71st play minutes Laércio Baía shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Lucas Sá and just under the crossbar into goal. Reginaldo Viegas acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 78th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Diamantino Gueifão. Manuel Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo Viegas having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Miranda in the 81st minute of play forced SC Vegia's goalkeeper Reginaldo Viegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Micael Calheiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Miguel Moniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Virais walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
