After a defensive mix-up in Almargem's zone, Xavier Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aquilino Coimbra came out of the goal and Xavier Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Matos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Amílcar Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gonçalo Andrade during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SC Fojos getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Gonçalo Andrade hit a great ball. Amílcar Cabral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Matos, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Xavier Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Fojos's supporters rose to their feet, but Xavier Lopes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aquilino Coimbra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Francisco Mesquita's late challenge caught a SC Fojos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Almargem's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jaime Matos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Fojos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Almargem the free kick. In the 64th minute, Fernando Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Nogueira did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-2 to the left of a surprised Aquilino Coimbra 68 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xavier Lopes got free with Aquilino Coimbra in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pedro Nogueira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 74th minute. SC Fojos's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 81 played minutes Almargem got a freekick which was hit by André Saraiva. Pedro Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aquilino Coimbra having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded SC Fojos left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Almargem.
