In the 3rd minute, Yoppie Simamora left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guimaraes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Marco Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Gonçalves in the 7th minute of play. Yoppie Simamora fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrique Oliveira having to interfere. Marco Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. João Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Henrique Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alpossos's goalkeeper Henrique Oliveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Guimaraes's Marco Silva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Guimaraes from getting a goal against them. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Alexandre Nogueira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Rui Gonçalves received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marco Silva came out and tried to block the shot, but Rui Gonçalves slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Guimaraes's goalkeeper Marco Silva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Almeida. Guimaraes's Marco Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Nogueira in the 31st minute of play. Marco Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Marco Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Nogueira in the 36th minute of play. Guimaraes's Yoppie Simamora got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 40 minutes, Viriato Trindade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guimaraes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Viriato Trindade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yoppie Simamora in the 43rd minute of play forced Alpossos's goalkeeper Henrique Oliveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute Yoppie Simamora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrique Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Guimaraes made a substitution. Fernando Aguiar replaced Alexandre Neto. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Yoppie Simamora was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute Alexandre Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Gomes struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Henrique Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guimaraes. The crowd rose to their feet as João Gomes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Henrique Oliveira. That made the score 1-2 in the 60 minute of play. After 64 played minutes Alpossos got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Nogueira. If Fernando Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Alpossos getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Rui Gonçalves hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yoppie Simamora in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henrique Oliveira saved Alpossos from getting behind. João Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrique Oliveira having to interfere. Alpossos's Henrique Oliveira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Alpossos from getting a goal against them. After 91 played minutes Alpossos got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Morais. Angelo Valeriani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Viriato Trindade fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guimaraes's protests and gave Viriato Trindade a yellow card for diving instead. In the 98th match minute, Guimaraes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viriato Trindade to maneuver through the defense. 99 minutes into the match, Guimaraes's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Nogueira came free, but Marco Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
