Leça F C's António Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SC Leitoes's Alexandre Delgado got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 17 minutes into the game, SC Leitoes's Alexandre Delgado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Alexandre Delgado managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Leitoes's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandre Delgado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Estevão Azeredo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 48th match minute, Leça F C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by António Silveira to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Luz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in SC Leitoes's zone, Marco Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Campos came out of the goal and Marco Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marco Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Afonso Campos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marco Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. 73 minutes into the match, Leça F C's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Luz came free, but Estevão Azeredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Estevão Azeredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Israel Brandão fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leça F C's protests and gave Israel Brandão a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Leitoes booed when Leça F C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Israel Brandão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Delgado's late challenge caught a Leça F C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexandre Delgado helped the player get up and apologised. Alexandre Delgado kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. António Silveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Afonso Campos made a huge save. If Alexandre Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristiano Luz struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Estevão Azeredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Leitoes. Leça F C's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
