When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Cândido Leal took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Nicolau Freire to make any attempt to save it. When Cândido Leal came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Gavinhos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cândido Leal couldn't finish the play. In the 16th minute, SC Mesieiro's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Emanuel Azevedo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Rui Ribeiro placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Isidoro Montenegro hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Nicolau Freire made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emanuel Azevedo in the 28th minute. Gavinhos FC's Emanuel Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Emanuel Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cândido Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Mesieiro's Higino Madeira got his second yellow card of the match in the 37th minute. The referee ordered Higino Madeira off the ground. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of SC Mesieiro:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gavinhos FC:s goal. Rui Ribeiro walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Isidoro Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Viegas having to interfere. SC Mesieiro's Nicolau Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cândido Leal in the 44th minute of play. Nicolau Freire made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emanuel Azevedo in the 46th minute. Emanuel Azevedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicolau Freire read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

In the 54th minute, Isidoro Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SC Mesieiro's Pedro Valente was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 57th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Nicolau Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Cândido Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute, Isidoro Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Valente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Viegas having to interfere. Gavinhos FC's Emanuel Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cândido Leal in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicolau Freire prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cândido Leal in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicolau Freire saved SC Mesieiro from getting behind. In the 92nd minute Emanuel Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolau Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Nicolau Freire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Gavinhos FC fully deserved thier win.
