Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Mareco's Ricardo Aguiar started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Amílcar Antunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrique Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mareco's Cristóvão Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sabino Festas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Aguiar in the 12th minute of play. Cristóvão Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sabino Festas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Aguiar in the 16th minute of the match. In the 20th minute of the match Olívio Parente sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henrique Leite skillfully saved the ball. Henrique Leite came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Arez's Alexandrino Padilha. But to his dismay, Alexandrino Padilha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Alexandrino Padilha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Aguiar struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Sabino Festas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mareco. 32 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Bulhosa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arez's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mareco the free kick. A collision led to Arez getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Rodrigo Bulhosa hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristóvão Silva got free with Sabino Festas in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 36 minutes, Simão Bentes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arez and the Mareco players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bruno Teixeira walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 41st minute Ricardo Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabino Festas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristóvão Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Festas having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Arez's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Aguiar came free, but Sabino Festas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Mareco players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Arez were winning 0-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandrino Padilha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Mareco defense, Alexandrino Padilha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Henrique Leite. The Mareco fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Henrique Leite should have stopped the shot. Arez's Alexandrino Padilha got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Aguiar in the 75th minute of play forced Arez's goalkeeper Sabino Festas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sabino Festas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrique Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Festas having to interfere. In the 95th match minute, Arez was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olívio Parente to maneuver through the defense.
