The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If João Menezes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute João Menezes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabino Festas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Eliseu Sequeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sabino Festas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Menezes in the 19th minute of play. Jordão Maltez made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Amílcar Antunes sent off a good shot on target. In the 23rd minute, Cláudio Infante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 23 minutes into the match, Arez's Olívio Parente broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Amílcar Antunes got free with Jordão Maltez in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jordão Maltez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandrino Padilha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Dark Wolves FC's Jordão Maltez got control of the ball when Amílcar Antunes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 44th minute, Amílcar Antunes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Arez fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0.

Patrício Mascarenhas's late challenge caught a Dark Wolves FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amílcar Antunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jordão Maltez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
