The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 12 minutes into the match, Abílio Galvão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sandro Valentim. Giao's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abílio Galvão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Cláudio Mourato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giao's Cláudio Mourato got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 25 minutes into the match, Paulino Medeiros notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Lavaceira's Álvaro França. Álvaro França was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Álvaro França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cláudio Mourato in the 30th minute of the match. Sandro Valentim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abílio Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abílio Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abílio Galvão in the 43rd minute of play forced Giao's goalkeeper Sandro Valentim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cláudio Mourato to strike the kick off in the second half. Abílio Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Valentim having to interfere. After 54 played minutes Jacob Carrasqueira could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-2 into the left cross. When Abílio Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Lavaceira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abílio Galvão couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Giao's Pedro Garcez got a free kick in the 91st minute. Abílio Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Sandro Valentim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Lavaceira supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lavaceira would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
