If Paulo Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute, Cristiano Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. sporting FC's Miguel Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Cavaco in the 18th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SC Bruco's Vítor Souto got a free kick in the 21st minute. Paulo Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Aldaír Estrela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Gaspar Pinheiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of SC Bruco booed when sporting FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Meireles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulo Lima stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gaspar Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Aldaír Estrela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miguel Vale was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and António Meireles capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. António Meireles really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. After 74 minutes, Caetano Maltez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Bruco and the sporting FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Caetano Maltez kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Paulo Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aldaír Estrela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. sporting FC fully deserved thier win.
