The supporters of GD GOLÃES booed when Pitaranha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Guarda didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Inácio Guerreiro came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Pitaranha FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Inácio Guerreiro couldn't finish the play. When Alexandre Amaro fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GD GOLÃES's protests and gave Alexandre Amaro a yellow card for diving instead. Alexandre Amaro kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Vítor Dias's late challenge caught a Pitaranha FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vítor Dias helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to GD GOLÃES getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Vítor Dias hit a great ball. If Veríssimo Sobral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 28 minutes, Francisco Guarda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pitaranha FC and the GD GOLÃES players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 28 played minutes Pitaranha FC got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Guarda. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind GD GOLÃES's goalkeeper Valentim Barbosa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Inácio Guerreiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Inácio Guerreiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valentim Barbosa. GD GOLÃES's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Inácio Guerreiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Fernando Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute Inácio Guerreiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valentim Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Faria in the 45th minute of play forced GD GOLÃES's goalkeeper Valentim Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valentim Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inácio Guerreiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Fernando Faria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentim Barbosa having to interfere. If Veríssimo Sobral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pitaranha FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
