Domingos Belo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Melchor Martxot struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Domingos Belo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mondinense FC. The supporters of Mondinense FC booed when Ruivos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julião Henriques didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Claudemiro Vilaça came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Ruivos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudemiro Vilaça couldn't finish the play. Claudemiro Vilaça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Sousa having to interfere. Mondinense FC's Rui Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudemiro Vilaça in the 26th minute of play. Carlos Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Domingos Belo having to interfere. Mondinense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ruivos the free kick. After 45 played minutes Mondinense FC got a freekick which was hit by Álvaro Guerreiro. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Mondinense FC's Armindo Paiva was substituted for Álvaro Guerreiro. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicolau Gaspar made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Brito in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Domingos Belo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rui Sousa made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Claudemiro Vilaça sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 61 minutes, António Amaro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ruivos's supporters crossed their fingers, but António Amaro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
