SC Catarinoes's Álvaro Pacheco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Homero Antunes in the 14th minute of play. In the 18th minute of the match, Jorge Morais got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fabrício Tinoco was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jorge Morais's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabrício Tinoco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Hermano Pinhal's late challenge caught a SC Catarinoes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Montinhos FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Catarinoes.
