The crowd rose to their feet as Manuel Baía kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jorge Vilalobos. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Manuel Baía sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Fragoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Barata in the 24th minute of the match. Noel Estrela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manuel Baía sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Donai's zone, Noel Estrela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Vilalobos came out of the goal and Noel Estrela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, one of Donai:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Donai. In the 43rd minute, Alcides Azeredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th match minute, Esperança Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nivaldo Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. Alcides Azeredo struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jorge Fragoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Donai. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Manuel Baía made the kick off in the second half. When Jorge Barata came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Donai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Barata couldn't finish the play. Jorge Barata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Fragoso having to interfere. A collision led to Esperança Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Nivaldo Alcântara hit a great ball. Jorge Fragoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alcides Azeredo in the 59th minute of play. Jorge Fragoso had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Altino Passos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 66th minute, Reginaldo Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Baía in the 71st minute of play forced Donai's goalkeeper Jorge Vilalobos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alcides Azeredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Jorge Fragoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donai's Alcides Azeredo got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 80 minutes, Manuel Baía managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esperança Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Baía was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nivaldo Alcântara in the 83rd minute of play forced Donai's goalkeeper Jorge Vilalobos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Esperança Futebol Clube's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jorge Barata fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Rodolfo Carreira's late challenge caught a Esperança Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodolfo Carreira helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Donai getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Rodolfo Carreira hit a great ball. Jorge Vilalobos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Baía in the 91st minute of play. Esperança Futebol Clube's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
