Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. A very good chance for a goal. In the 28th minute, Cláudio Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 31st minute Vicente Poças shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Patrício Vilanova had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duarte Neves. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Domingos Azevedo during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Domingos Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Cláudio Monteiro in the 52nd minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Patrício Vilanova to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 55 minutes of play, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Vicente Poças made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Coelho was left in no man's land by his defense there! 60 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when Domingos Azevedo came free, but Patrício Vilanova reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, Durval Rijo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Ramires the free kick. In the 61st minute, Durval Rijo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duarte Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrício Vilanova having to interfere. 66 minutes into the game, SC Ramires's Cláudio Monteiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrício Vilanova made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 69th minute, Duarte Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Patrício Vilanova played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cláudio Monteiro in the 71st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Cláudio Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrício Vilanova was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Vicente Poças received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. João Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th match minute, Sport Lisboa e Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Parente to maneuver through the defense. Caetano Ramires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Coelho having to interfere. The supporters of Sport Lisboa e Benfica booed when SC Ramires was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tarcísio Cunha's late challenge caught a SC Ramires's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tarcísio Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. Tarcísio Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Duarte Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrício Vilanova having to interfere. If Cláudio Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute, Duarte Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patrício Vilanova was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Cláudio Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
