Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) SC Novelhos's Rui Alves started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Diamantino Henriques was a little too slow when Flávio Bento got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 5th minute. The score was now 1-0. Óscar Calheiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Alves in the 8th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Novelhos's zone, Flávio Bento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diamantino Henriques came out of the goal and Flávio Bento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, SC Novelhos's Diamantino Henriques got control of the ball when Abílio Fiúza tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Flávio Bento in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diamantino Henriques saved SC Novelhos from getting behind. After a rather tough play, SC Novelhos's Paulo Araújo got a free kick in the 15th minute. After some careless play in the SC Novelhos defense, Abílio Fiúza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diamantino Henriques. The SC Novelhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diamantino Henriques should have stopped the shot. Abílio Fiúza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diamantino Henriques having to interfere. SC Novelhos's Miguel Esteves got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of SC Novelhos booed when F.C. do Velhote was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valério Azeredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 28 minutes, Miguel Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Novelhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Esteves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, F.C. do Velhote's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Esteves came free, but Óscar Calheiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flávio Bento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Diamantino Henriques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flávio Bento to strike the kick off in the second half. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. do Velhote's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Afonso Lopes was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Novelhos's players had a chance to rest. The corner led SC Novelhos's Afonso Lopes to fire away a dangerous shot which Óscar Calheiros despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Miguel Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the game, Vladimiro Martins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. do Velhote's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Novelhos the free kick. A collision led to F.C. do Velhote getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. After 83 minutes, Flávio Bento made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. SC Novelhos's Diamantino Henriques tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 88th minute, Abílio Fiúza made a precise shot to the right of Diamantino Henriques. SC Novelhos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Rui Alves charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rui Alves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 92 played minutes SC Novelhos got a freekick which was hit by Rui Alves. Óscar Calheiros didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 97th minute, which inside left pole to 4-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The F.C. do Velhote fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Novelhos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
