The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. F.C. Barreiro's Horácio Varanda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save F.C. Barreiro from getting a goal against them. António Telinhos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Augusto Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Horácio Varanda didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Heitor Resende went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Heitor Resende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Horácio Varanda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Heitor Resende could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Horácio Varanda made a huge save. 23 minutes into the match, F.C. Barreiro's goalkeeper Horácio Varanda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Heitor Resende. In the 28th minute Fernando Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horácio Varanda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 33 minutes into the game, when Gentil Porto put in a rough tackle. 32 minutes into the game, one of F.C. Barreiro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Heitor Resende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Varanda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Monteiro in the 40th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, F.C. Barreiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egídio Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, F.C. Barreiro's goalkeeper Horácio Varanda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Heitor Resende. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Egídio Nóbrega was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, Egídio Nóbrega got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Egídio Nóbrega managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C. Barreiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Egídio Nóbrega was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Amaral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute, Heitor Resende ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horácio Varanda was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 76th minute Heitor Resende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horácio Varanda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd match minute, F.C. Barreiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by António Telinhos to maneuver through the defense. The audience cheered when Alfredo Machado's long shot passed Horácio Varanda's right side. It was 3-1, 83 minutes into the match. Horácio Varanda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Monteiro in the 89th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cheira FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while F.C. Barreiro had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
