In a very dangerous position, a player in Carquistão FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! In the 41st match minute, Carquistão FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarbas Taveira to maneuver through the defense. Futebol Clube do Porto's Maurício Severo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Carquistão FC. After a rather tough play, Futebol Clube do Porto's Gastão Linhares got a free kick in the 45th minute. After the first half Futebol Clube do Porto were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jesualdo Lemos kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Honorato Neves couldn't finish the play. Viriato Gago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Fernandes in the 79th minute of play. Aristides Zambujal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacob Pádua having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 83rd minute by Honorato Neves got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.
